Donald Trump and the Democrats

I need to let you in on something.  This blog post is not about Donald Trump and the Democrats!

If I haven’t lost you, in disgust, after the last sentence then let me explain why I made the title Donald Trump and the Democrats.  It’s because it sells!  Honestly, if you title anything online today with either or better yet both of those topics then people will read what comes next – most of the time.

And that’s my point.  We spend too much time ranting and wanting to be heard because we no longer have anything of real importance to say so we start throwing out rants against or in support of stuff.  And it’s not just politics.

I Want everyone to stop

I don’t want to hear anything more about topics that won’t make life better.  We have been sold the lie that Christians must make their opinions known about politics.  THAT IS A LIE!  Christians should be involved in politics, as in running for office and acting like Christians after they enter office – as in voting – as in peacefully encouraging others to engage.  But honestly, will letting everyone know your opinion about any president or any political group really help anyone?  I believe it will make non-Christians look at you as an angry, load example of what they already thought Christians were.

Then Mister High and Mighty what would you have us do?

First, I’m not high and mighty.  I say all of this with an understanding that many are tired of politics and they so want things in Washington to be better – much better! Part of the answer is to bark less and seek godly wisdom from God’s Word (the Bible) and from God Himself (prayer, quite listening, and fasting) before speaking anymore.  (Remember we will be known by our love one for another.)

I have been asking the question lately “Where has godly wisdom gone?”.  People on the internet seem more interested in having a platform upon which to yell their opinion than working to find a place to manually intervene in the life of someone that needs someone to love them and guide them one-on-one with godly wisdom. The old saying is true, “If all we are known for is what we are against then how will people know what we are for?”.

Lord, let this grow in my own life!!

Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. Do not forsake her, and she will keep you; love her, and she will guard you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom, and whatever you get, get insight. Prize her highly, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will place on your head a graceful garland; she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.”” (Proverbs 4:5–9, ESV)

Next Steps
  • Ask yourself if this is the first blog post of mine that you have read all the way through.  I suspect this will be my most read post even though I have blogged about a ton of other topics that I believe are more important!  If read this one and not others this may mean that you are attracted to the noise of inflammatory posts!!
  • Comment – blast me, thank me, help me!  We can talk about this.  DISCLAIMER – I won’t argue on the internet – I will want to set up a face to face meeting if you say something negative to me on the internet.  Online is not the place to”have it out!”. So if it gets ugly I’ll want to talk face to face because people, Christian or not, need to settle disputes face to face.
